About Me
Get To Know Destiny Lovee ?
Destiny, Let’s start with how old you are and how you got started with your fashion blog?
“ StyledByDestinyLovee ”
A: Well, I am 24 years old as of June 2020 from the Bronx, New York-born & raised. Since I was little, I have honestly had a passion for fashion and style. I always watched the women in my family keep themselves together and updated with fashion wearing and shopping for nice clothes. I loved it. My mom was heavily into fashion; she kept up with all the latest styles by buying magazine subscriptions like Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Marie Claire, Instyle! You name it, this woman had the collections, and I used to rip pictures out of her magazines taped them all on my room wall. I thought that it was fun picking the best outfits for my wall collage, and I took my time with it. I found something that for once brought me peace.
When I found my inspiration for STYLEDBYDESTINYLOVEE, I believe I was using an app called POLYVORE. It was an app you could create templates with clothes, and I was good at it. I was using it to kill time, and It just ended up being a creative outlet for my ideas with creating looks. I started sharing my work on Pinterest, and I noticed people on social media taking an eye to my work.
As I got older and worked more in the fashion industry, I became a stylist and decided I needed my official fashion blog. I wanted something with my name to be closer to my clients and show my creations and inspirations.
What was one of your proudest moments with THE creation of your blog?
A: I would say building my audience to 1 million + Views worldwide was an amazing feeling. I feel funny talking about it because I don’t boast about it as much as I should. I turned something that was once a hobby into a business. I realized how many people were engaging and sharing my work and reaching out on where to find or buy particular looks, items, and just overall similar stuff in different states and countries. I couldn’t believe it & still can’t believe it. I linked my fashion blog with my Pinterest, and it blew up. It helped a lot. It motivates me to post more and be more active and flexible! I worked so hard to build it up. I do everything myself, creating the websites and displaying my work how I do.
You said you worked in fashion retail. what kind of work did you do to work your way up into becoming a Personal Stylist?
A: I honestly can say I’ve possibly worked in every field in fashion. I’ve been the sales associate, the stock specialist, the visual merchandiser, the assistant buyer, the merchandiser coordinator, the fulfillment associate. I don’t believe everyone needs to go through all of that to do what they love or are passionate about. But It takes hard work and dedication. You have to believe in yourself and show people what you care about. Don’t let anybody tell you where you belong, EVER.
What skills, according to you, are necessary for a successful fashion designer or Stylist?
A: I would say be open-minded, creative, passionate, and confident.
Be your own biggest fan! If nobody believes in you or supports you, brag about your work until people get accustomed to it.
How do you stay up to date regarding fashion?
A: Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter are my holy grails.
How would you describe your style?
A: Honestly? I think my style is very versatile. I appreciate affordable fashion and making it look luxurious, also being comfortable. I genuinely love that I’m able just to, in general, put a look together, and I think that’s most important. So to answer your question Girly, Street style. I wear stuff based on my mood.
